Greenspan increases finally Red Flags
Just as it prepares the stage from his post as chairman of the Federal Reserve acknowledged the error of tolerance, asset prices in determining monetary policy.
“Our forecasts and other policies are increasingly driven by asset price changes,” Greenspan said Friday at his last appearance on the Kansas City Fed symposium in Jackson, Wyo.
In his much-awaited speech, “Reflections on Central Banking,” Mr. Greenspan noted some strong movement during its 18-year presidency.
The huge leap in the relationship between the budget in net worth on disposable income was one of those changes, initially supported by rising stock prices and, more recently, as houses.
“If the current high level of wealth-to-income ratio will continue over the long term remains to be” Mr. Greenspan warned.
